There are many wonderful resources out there for anyone interested in historical clothing - other enthusiasts have inspired me, manuscripts have astounded me and traders offer wonderful goods to help us enjoy the current middle ages in more authentic ways. Here are a few of them, roughly grouped together. Have fun!
MANUSCRIPT AND LIBRARY SITES By far the best way to study clothing is to look at originals or contemporary illustrations. These will help!
COSTUME WEBSITES And by this I generally mean those sites which have inspired this one (but are far superior!). They are not grouped into any sort of time or geographical sense yet, apart from the Italian folder further down.
TRADER WEBSITES For those of us time poor and not necessarily cash-rich, I recommend at least having a good browse around the following websites by traders who deal with specialists in many periods.
ITALIAN Given how awesome and inspiring many of these sites are, it's only right that they get a special mention. The link might take you into a specific page so feel free to roam around: you never know what'll be on the next page!
